The National Association of Reimbursement Officers (NARO)
was founded in 1955 to provide a venue for individuals, from all states, involved with reimbursement for services provided
to persons with disabilities, to explore/exchange information on current issues related to
reimbursement.
The goals of NARO are:
- To promote patient/client rights and interests in financial and property matters.
- To make the general public and patients/clients aware that income and resources of those
legally liable for the cost of care should be considered available to pay for the care,
while ensuring that sufficient funds are maintained for rehabilitation and personal needs.
- To work to ensure that patients/clients can access all appropriate entitlements.
- To promote effective and efficient administration of reimbursement programs through
active participation in policy and procedural planning.
- To review, compare, and evaluate reimbursement policy being formulated or mandated
at various levels of government.
- To provide reimbursement professionals with a forum to exchange information and
participate in group work sessions on reimbursement matters.
- To assist members in professional development for the purpose of maximizing reimbursement.
